The PA-CIWT project in action: strengthening livelihoods and preserving resources
Nitidae · April 22, 2026
As part of the PA-CIWT project, funded by GEF 7 and implemented by the NGO Nitidæ as a field implementation partner, concrete actions are being deployed in the Behara-Tranomaro protected area to strengthen household livelihoods while reducing pressure on protected areas.
Goat farming: a sustainable activity to support livelihoods in response to climate challenges
In close collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock, veterinary services are provided by APPSA agents and health veterinarians, guaranteeing the good health status of the livestock and promoting optimal reproduction.
During the fourth quarter of 2025, the project supported 20 breeders, each of whom benefited from three goat breeders (one male and two females).
Support for cash crops: strengthening productive capital and improving agricultural income
Thus, 75 farmers (CR Tranomaro) were equipped with plows and spades, allowing them to increase the cultivated areas and, consequently, their production.
Furthermore, 75 farms (CR Behara) benefited from quality bean seeds (20 kg per household), validated by the official control service (SOC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty (MiASA).
